WELCOME TO THE GEORGIA DISABILITY VOTE PROJECT
Georgia Disability Vote Project (GDVP) encourages people with disabilities, their families, and supporters to vote for change! To change policy, we must change minds about what it means to be a person with a disability who is a fully participating member of society. Being an educated and active voter is the best way to not just change minds, but to change the policies that impact our lives and our communities.
For example, 18 years ago the disability community we successfully lobbied for the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Since then, the disability community has struggled for those laws to be enforced in way that respects the right of people with disabilities to live equally in society. These struggles can be fought and won when the disability community unites and shows the strength of our numbers. People with disabilities are the largest minority group in the United States yet often the most overlooked and underserved. Membership in GDVP gives individuals and organizations the power to be seen and served. How do we, as individuals and as a community, reach out to lawmakers and let our voices be heard?
For starters, we must VOTE.
The deadline to register to vote is October 6th. To find out how to Register to Vote.
If you plan to vote via absentee ballot, we recommend that you request an absentee ballot no later than October 15th. This will allow you time to mail your application, receive your ballot in the mail, and mail your ballot before Election Day. Request an Absentee Ballot Application.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 4th! If you cannot vote on that date, you also have the option on voting in advance. For information on Advance Voting.
